Pakistan Global Youth Mentorship Initiative:
Bridging the Gap Between Two Worlds of Pedagogy
In 2018, we collaborated with the Global Youth Mentorship Initiative by Columbia University. Socio-economic restrictions and conventional education can often create a gap between underprivileged students and the opportunities that we have access to. GYMI aimed to bridge this gap and supplement the traditional educational curriculum through youth-led mentorship. The program was first introduced in Chinese rural communities, and upon its success, the United Nations Department of Public Information approved this venture. In the GYMI Pakistan Chapter, students from Columbia University visited the country and delivered educational programs on technology and arts. This exchange of knowledge and skills proved beneficial to our students, and the program was an overall success.
